Working with influencers can be a new frontier for many marketers. To get you going we’ve pulled together a few do’s and don’ts gathered from our experience over the years.
Do have a clear pitch. Make sure the influencer knows what the ask is and what the brand would like to promote. This initial pitch is going to be short and sweet. You’ll go into more detail later once they have committed to work with your brand and you send a campaign brief.
Do have an open mind. Be flexible in your ask. You most likely will run into some negotiation with influencers. Take the time to hear them out and see if you can come to a mutually beneficial answer. Sometimes influencers will do an Instagram Story at a lower rate than a post or they may be willing to post content across multiple networks to give you even more awareness.
Do allow creative freedom. Some of the best hits we’ve had came from totally unique, creative ideas from the influencers. You want to get your main message in but always allow for creativity.
Don’t back out on a deal. Most paid ops should have a contract. Make sure you are willing and able to honor that contract before you sign on your end.
Don’t burn bridges. We’ve gone back to multiple influencers multiple times and it is always a good move to build the best relationship you can. Plus influencers in one industry or one specific city often have relationships with one another.
Don’t be afraid to try. More and more marketers are seeing ROI and value in influencer marketing. It’s worth a test to see how it can benefit your brand. If you need help drop a comment and we’re happy to get you on your way.
