The right hashtag can extend your reach and attract new customers, but quite often people wonder if they are using the best ones to keep their content front and center. We talk about three different types of hashtags that can help you amplify your content.
Community hashtags: These hashtags connect like-minded fans around a specific subject from product specific (#whiskey) to your industry niche (#closetdesigner). Hashtags can also be a way people gather on social like (#foodiesofinstagram). If you’re struggling to find these look at the hashtags your competitors or audience use regularly and that could be a good clue.
Branded hashtags: While branded hashtags may not get you as large of reach as a more general hashtag, they can be a great way to gather all your content in one place. Once a fan discovers you they can then click on your brand hashtag to see User Generated Content and your own brand posts to get a good overall picture of the brand. Think about your brand name, the name of one of your products or even your tagline if it is well known.
Campaign hashtags: If you want to build a lot of engagement in a short period of time (think product launches or special events) create a campaign hashtag and make sure you seed it across all your promotional materials and ideally with influencers who can help create buzz.
