Social Media Brainstorm - Four Tips for Getting Great Content

  • Layout a process. Contrary to popular belief a brainstorm with a little structure actually inspired creativity. Think about what info would be useful to have on hand and map out those templates before hand. Consider social media holidays, business goals and trends.

  • Pre-plan. Ask people to come to the table with a few ideas. Not everyone works best thinking off the cuff or in a group environment and this will ensure full participation and that you have something to build from. Encourage people to look at other social accounts or relevant hashtags to see what’s being done currently out in the social space and what trends you can leverage.

  • Participation. In general, make sure everyone participates. Make it a “safe” space for sharing by being positive and make sure every idea gets written down.

  • Follow through. The best ideas won’t matter if they just sit there. Have a process on how the ideas will be executed and make sure you are clear on who owns the follow-up.
