Thanks to modern day technology, anyone with a smartphone is capable of producing high quality, creative content. Brands are capitalizing on the power of user-generated content (UGC) to generate meaningful and authentic content on demand and with good reason.

Sixty percent of consumers say UGC is the most authentic form of content and it’s said to be 20% more influential than many other forms of media. Here are several ways you can scale user-generated content for your brand beyond just sharing posts.

  1. Targeted social ads: Deliver a personalized ad experience by using UGC to create relevant ads for your consumer segments. Be sure to test different creatives to see what resonates most with each audience.

  2. Email campaigns: Increase your click-through rate of email campaigns with UGC. Videos in particular will increase engagement.

  3. Product pages. Create scalable, authentic content to fuel product pages on e-commerce or your website. Most brands use a traditional white background on product pages, instead, use UGC to show the product in action or its “natural” setting.  If the UGC is a stop-motion or a how-to video, all the better.

  4. Incorporate into packaging.  UGC can also work well on packaging, especially if it shows the product in action.

  5. Traditional ads. Capture authentic moments for your TV spots by using UGC video and don’t be afraid to create print ads with high quality images. This is a great way to take content from the social to the physical world.

While using UGC content can add authenticity and creativity to your brand, be sure to do it on the up and up. Contact the creator and offer recognition or compensation. How have you taken UGC to the next level? Share in the comments below or tell us on social - @thegosocial
