If Covid-19 has taught us anything, it’s that we need to wash our hands, keep our distance, and make sure our marketing is still relevant. While we can’t help you with the handwashing, we can provide some guidance on your messaging while you market through this time.
Be strong: In times of uncertainty, there’s an opportunity to position your brand in a strong way. it gives people comfort to know that your brand is someone they can rely on. “We may not make it through this if you don’t help us” is not a compelling message even if you are struggling financially. Be the beacon that will help others feel strong too.
Be helpful: Don’t sell, but do support. Approach it from a what can I do for you? angle. In situations like these, it’s important to think not only about your business but your community as a whole. Think about a time you were in dire straits and someone helped you. You remember that person or that act, no matter how small. Now is the time to build goodwill.
Be positive. There’s enough negative news out there to pick from. Differentiate yourself by looking on the positive side. Find opportunities to make people smile to offer hope and to remind people that this too shall pass.
